Ernst achieved the rare evolution of translating theory into action when he left the academic world as a professor and executive dean to enter the exciting world of entrepreneurial technology startups.
He holds a doctorate (D Com) in Business Management from the University of Port Elizabeth (now Nelson Mandela University) specialising in strategic logistics, supply chain and process management.
During the last ten years, Ernst has been involved in a number of technology-business models and ventures on a global platform where he focused on the commercialization of high-impact technologies. He has not only helped initiate new technology ventures, but has implemented commercialization systems for these ventures. He has lived in
Europe where he worked in the neuromodulation industry. Ernst has also been involved in supply chain and development projects in Africa.
A roadmap for commercialization of intellectual property (IP) is based on a clear understanding of the mechanisms needed to protect the IP, validate the technology or concept, create barriers to entry, develop a sustainable business model, find the right strategic investment partners and ultimately implement strategies.
